What is Active Start?

Active Start is a family-centred activity program for children with an intellectual or developmental disability ages 2-6.
Through the program, children learn basic motor skills such as walking, running, jumping, balancing and throwing in a fun and safe environment.
These skills provide support for everyday activities as well as a base for FUNdamentals and Special Olympics sports training and competition as athletes grow older
Introduces the importance of family involvement in facilitating the growth of self-esteem, confidence and socialization with peers in young athletes.

What to expect in Active Start

To have fun!
Facilitation by trained coaches and volunteers
Develop play skills through movement and daily physical activity with basic motor skills, ex: walking, running, jumping, balancing, etc

Sundays 3:30 - 4:15 pm, from October 18th - December 20th, 2026
Ages 2 - 6
